The October PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup has been announced. It includes three games from different genres: “F1 25,” “Hunt: Showdown 1896,” and “Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2.”
All three games will be available to PlayStation Plus members from Tuesday, October 6, through Monday, November 2. The lineup may vary by region, so players are advised to check the list for their region on PlayStation Store when the games become available.
October PlayStation Plus Monthly Games
- “F1 25”
- “Hunt: Showdown 1896” – PS5
- “Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2” – PS5 and PS4
“F1 25”
“F1 25” is the official video game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. It offers single-player modes as well as the option to race online against other players.
The single-player content includes the “Career” and “My Team 2.0” modes. “My Team 2.0” lets players become the owner of a Formula 1 team, manage it, and create their own F1 story.
The online-focused “F1 World” section also introduces a new multiplayer mode. In it, friends can join forces as a single team and race together against AI-controlled opponents.
“Hunt: Showdown 1896” – PS5
“Hunt: Showdown 1896” joins October’s Monthly Games lineup for PS5. It is an unforgiving extraction shooter in which players must battle dangerous monsters and other hunters competing for the same bounty.
The action takes place in locations forgotten by history and overrun by evil. Players must track down bosses, defeat them, claim the bounty, and successfully reach an extraction point. Rival hunters are trying to do the same, so the creatures lurking throughout the environment are not the only threat players must watch out for along the way.
Players can hunt alone or with friends. In team play, up to two teammates can join the player.
“Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2” – PS5 and PS4
“Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2” will be available for PS5 and PS4 consoles. In this entry in the series, a square-shaped Earth is attacked by gigantic enemies, while team members scattered around the world wait to be rescued.
Players choose four team members from the characters they have collected and form their own squad. Soldiers and their equipment can be combined to create a team that suits the player’s preferred playstyle, before the prepared squad is sent into battle against the enemies attacking Earth.
Players can choose not only soldiers from the main “Earth Defense Force” series, but also characters from EDF spin-off games. Enemies that ravaged the planet in earlier entries in the series have also made their way into this world.
Some familiar enemies have been redesigned in a voxel style, and they are joined by new opponents created specifically for this game. Battles pit players against large groups of these enemies, using a team assembled from a variety of different soldiers.
“Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2” supports four-player online co-op. The PS5 and PS4 versions also support local two-player split-screen play.
Last Chance to Add September’s Games
PlayStation Plus members still have until Monday, October 5, to add September’s Monthly Games to their game libraries.
- “Sniper Elite: Resistance”
- “MLB The Show 26”
- “Wobbly Life”
- “Chained Echoes”
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Avatars
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” will arrive on Sony Pictures Core on October 6. To mark the occasion, limited-edition “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” avatars will be released through Sony Pictures Core for a limited time on the same day.
PlayStation Plus members will be able to claim the avatars in the app at no additional cost. Users without a PlayStation Plus membership will need to obtain “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” through Sony Pictures Core to receive the avatars.
The promotion will end on October 20, 2026, while the avatar voucher code will remain valid until October 6, 2027. The offer will only be available in regions where Sony Pictures Core operates. The avatars are for personal use and may not be transferred, sold, or resold.
PlayStation Plus Exclusive HorrorFest Packs
For the horror season, PlayStation Plus members will also be able to access horror-themed content packs for various PS5 and PS4 games. Three packs and their release dates were listed in the announcement:
- “Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle” – from October 1
- “Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack” – from October 6
- “Overwatch 2 Dragur Reinhardt + 5 Tier skips Pack” – from October 7
The corresponding base game is required to use the content included in these packs. The “Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack” will be released on October 6—the same day that the PS5 version of “Hunt: Showdown 1896” becomes part of October’s Monthly Games lineup.
A PlayStation Plus subscription is subject to an automatically charged recurring fee until the membership is canceled. Age restrictions and terms of service also apply.
